About
The Humboldt Society is the oldest gay and lesbian natural history society in the US. It was founded in 1982 in honor of gay scientist, adventurer, and natural history philosopher Alexander von Humboldt. The society is celebrating 25 years of providing lectures, films, field trips, and social festivities to Philadelphia area gays and lesbians.

To the Humboldt Society:
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist at OutFest on Sunday, October 7.
The event draws 30 to 40 thousand people so we need support staff to help things run smoothly. There is an all day need for people in security, stage help, and people to help the block captains as they watch over their assigned blocks. Some people in the morning help to setup tables, paint lines, build trash boxes, etc., and people in the evening work to break down tables, get stuff back on the trucks, and move the trash bags to our designated pickup locations.
We ask that the volunteers work a 6 hour shift, either from 8AM-2PM, or 2PM-8PM. In exchange for their volunteer time, they will be provided with food and an Outfest t-shirt. They will definitely get the chance to meet lots of people too.
If you are part of an LGBT group, and 10 volunteers from your group take part as volunteers, $200 will also be donated to your group.
We are looking for individuals and groups, so please get back to me if your members would like to help to make this event better.
Thank you,
Dell Collier
